Our Music Director
In 2023, we were delighted to appoint Adam Robinson as our new Choral Director. Find out more about Adam and his passion for Choral music below.
Adam Robinson
Born in Lancaster, Adam began his musical career as a boy chorister at Lancaster Priory where he was taught singing until the age of eighteen. In 2018, Adam began studying Music Performance at the University of Huddersfield, specialising in singing under the tuition of Rachel Nicholls and Andrew Slater. While at University, Adam regularly deputised at Bradford Cathedral and Leeds Cathedral and in 2019 toured Germany with the choir of Bradford Cathedral under choral director Alex Berry.

Also while at the University of Huddersfield, Adam was a Choral Scholar for the Huddersfield Choral Society where he was given the opportunity to work alongside renowned conductors Martyn Brabbins, Vasily Petrenko and Dame Jane Glover and to discover his love for large scale choral works, performing with the likes of the Hallé Orchestra, Opera North and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. In 2019, Adam was fortunate enough to perform in the chorus of the National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company on their annual UK Tour.

In 2019, Adam began his training as a choral conductor through the choral conducting programme provided by Sing for Pleasure. This ignited a new passion for Adam to pass on his own knowledge of singing and vocal training to others, whilst creating music to the highest possible standard.

On the back of this training with Sing for Pleasure, Adam continued to develop his conducting under the direction of Welsh conductor Robert Guy, and founded the University of Huddersfield Music Society Orchestra and Chorus, leading them in performances prior to the Covid 19 pandemic. Since leaving university Adam has sung with the choir of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

On his appointment as Choral Director of the Lytham St Annes Choral Society, Adam states:

I am very excited to be taking up the post of Music Director with the Lytham St Annes Choral Society. As you may know, this is my first choral director role and I’ve been delighted to work with the Choir members since joining in October 2023. I’m sure that we can, together, take the choir from strength to strength with a vision for the Society that works to enrich the lives of others in our commitment to classical music, through performance, education and participation. I firmly believe that the Choral Society works to be a beacon in its community, providing opportunities for everyone to engage in musical activities, and that it aims to enrich local cultural life through a diverse and enriching programme of events. This is something I intend to develop over the coming years and is part of my vision for the Society’s future. I’d like to thank the Choral Society’s Members for the warmth of their welcome as we work together with our shared passion for music.
